RWANDAN COMMUNITY IN POLAND CELEBRATES UMUGANURA IN POZNAŃ
On 9th of August 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Poland in collaboration with the Rwanda Community Abroad (RCA) Poland, organized and celebrated Umuganura 2025 in Poznan, under the theme of “Umuganura, Isoko y’Ubumwe no Kwigira”. The day brought together Rwandans for a day of unity, culture, and community spirit.
The celebrations began with football and basketball games, fostering teamwork and fellowship among participants. The gathering then moved to Novotel Poznan Centrum, where the President of RCA Poland Allan Nyombayire welcomed guests and introduced H.E. Prof. Anastase Shyaka, Ambassador of Rwanda to Poland who was also the Guest of Honor. In his address, Ambassador reminded attendees that Umuganura is not just about eating and festivities, but about sharing ideas, celebrating achievements, helping one another, and strengthening unity stating “Twigire kandi tube Magirirane”.
The event also featured the launch of a three-month “Dusagire Lunch initiative” that shall gather contributions from members of Rwandan community in Poland to support Rwanda’s National School Feeding Program (NSFP).
The day concluded with a communal reception, awards for outstanding teams, and traditional Rwandan dances led by residents of the host city, capturing the true spirit of togetherness and cultural pride that defines Umuganura.
