KWIBOHORA32 CELEBRATED IN WARSAW, POLAND

On 7 July 2026, the Embassy of Rwanda to Poland, in collaboration with Rwandan Community Abroad (RCA) – Poland, celebrated the 32nd Anniversary of Rwanda's Liberation Day-Kwibohora32. The celebration was held at the Hilton Warsaw City in Warsaw and brought together senior officials from the Government of the Republic of Poland, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the private sector, academia, friends of Rwanda, and members of the Rwandan community in Poland.

Remarks were delivered by Hon. Wojciech Zajączkowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, on behalf of the Government of Poland, and by Prof. Anastase SHYAKA, Ambassador of Rwanda to Poland. Both speakers paid tribute to the sacrifice, courage, and visionary leadership of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) and the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA), under the leadership of H.E. President Paul Kagame, for bringing an end to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, liberating Rwanda, and laying the foundation for the country's unity, peace, stability, and remarkable socio-economic transformation.

Ambassador SHYAKA highlighted the steady growth of Rwanda–Poland relations over the past 61 years of diplomatic ties, noting that the last five years have represented a particularly significant chapter in bilateral cooperation. Among the notable achievements, he cited the establishment of resident embassies in both countries and Poland's emergence as one of Rwanda's leading economic partners.

The Ambassador also took the opportunity to bid farewell to the guests as he announced the conclusion of his tenure as Rwanda's Ambassador to Poland. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the friendship, cooperation, and support extended to him throughout the past five years and conveyed his hope that the same goodwill and collaboration would be extended to his successor.

The celebration concluded with a vibrant showcase of Rwanda's rich cultural heritage through traditional dance performances by Ballet Icyeza.
