MINISTER VINCENT BIRUTA VISITING POLAND
On Monday, June 19, Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vincent Biruta, paid an official visit to Poland. The politician was received by President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and was also a guest of honor at the meeting of ambassadors led by Minister Zbigniew Rau. During this meeting, the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an agreement between the two ministries enabling the promotion of innovative methods in the field of training diplomatic personnel. They also appeared at a joint press conference.
Issues related to economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed, especially in the field of agricultural production, energy, machinery industry, transport, agricultural machinery and equipment for the food industry as well as construction and the ICT industry. - We agreed with Minister Biruta that the current level of trade does not fully reflect the potential of our bilateral relationship, and we expressed hope that this trend would change quickly - said the head of the Polish MFA.
Zbigniew Rau reminded that the largest Polish investment in Rwanda is the tin plant in Kigali, run by LuNa Smelter. He emphasized that this makes Rwanda the largest tin processor in East Africa.
Minister said that the talks also concerned cooperation in the field of education, cybersecurity and green technologies.
Minister Biruta stressed that Rwanda was in favor of protecting the territorial integrity of all countries; he also spoke of the need to tighten political and economic ties with Poland.
Vincent Biruta emphasized the need to improve the food situation directly on the continent; said, among others about the need to increase investment in agriculture on the African continent.
