AMBASSADOR SHARED RWANDA’S VISION FOR E-MOBILITY AT THE NEW MOBILITY CONGRESS 2025 IN KATOWICE
From 23rd to 24th September 2025, Ambassador Prof. Anastase SHYAKA attended and participated in the New Mobility Congress 2025, taking place in Katowice, Poland, from 23rd to 25th September. The Congress which is organized by the Polish and EU New Mobility Association, aimed at addressing the development of electromobility, exploring challenges, and identifying solutions for the future of green mobility and showcasing new electromobility technologies, charging systems, and ecosystem management solutions.
The conference brought together high-level political figures, sector experts, leaders of major transportation companies, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Poland. Ambassador SHYAKA participated in a panel discussion titled “New Mobility: From a Global Perspective” along with H.E. Jennes de Mol, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; H.E. Enass Al-Shahwan, Ambassador-Designate of Saudi Arabia; and Ms. Hannah Keyes from Global Urban Mobility Visa. The session provided insights into how different countries view the future of electromobility.
In his remarks, Ambassador SHYAKA shared Rwanda’s status and innovative solutions in e-sector. highlighted Rwanda’s vision of achieving a carbon-free economy by 2050. He emphasized key milestones, including the expansion of electricity access from just 2% thirty years ago to 85% today, as well as governance and regulatory measures to spur EV in public transport. He underlined the critical role of Public-Private Partnerships and outlined incentives to promote investment in the sector, including tax exemptions on EV equipment.
The Ambassador concluded by reaffirming Rwanda’s commitment to advancing electromobility and encouraging interested partners to seize the opportunities Rwanda offers for cooperation and innovation in the green mobility sector.
