AMBASSADOR OF RWANDA OFFICIATED THE CITTASLOW HALF MARATHON IN WARMIA REGION, POLAND

On 4th & 5th May 2025: Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Poland, H.E. Prof. Anastase SHYAKA, visited Warmia region, in north east of Poland. He attended as Guest of Honour of the Cittaslow Half Marathon (21 km) in the Warmia Region of Poland.

During the visit, Ambassador participated in Cittaslow as Guest of Honor and had some engagement with LG officials and economic actors. Ambassador visited also the milk processing plant in Lidzbark Warminski, belonging to the biggest polish milk industry. He engaged  with officials in Lidzbark Warmiski and Olsztynski District. He with all, possible prospects of collaboration were explored.

The race started in Gorowo municipality and was officiated by Ambassador of Rwanda together with the Vice President of Cittaslow Network, Mr Jacek Kustka, who is also the mayor of that Municipality. The event brought together approximately 150 participants from Poland, Ukraine, and Kenya. The East African runners excelled in competition and secured medals in their categories.

The event was used to promote visit Rwanda. during award ceremony, Ambassador also presented 03 symbolic Rwandan gifts to the best LG official runner and the best Female and Male performers from the Cittaslow municipalities in Poland. 

In his speech, ambassador thanked organizers for associating Rwanda to this annual event, for the 2nd consecutive time. He recalled Rwanda’s policy to promote sport and tourism.

On the sidelines of the marathon, the Ambassador held discussions with attending officials, including the Vice President of the Cittaslow Global Network, exploring potential areas of cooperation, between the network and Rwanda’s decentralized entities. Cittaslow network groups over 300 Municipalities from about 30 countries from 4 continents.
